PU receives over 16k registrations for entrance exam

Chandigarh: The Panjab University concluded the acceptance of information submission for the entrance examination of PU-CET PG on June 1, drawing over 16,000 registrations. The PU-CET PG tests are being conducted to secure admissions to approximately 43 courses, encompassing various MA, MSc, and other master’s subjects in the university’s teaching departments/Institutes and affiliated colleges.

It is noteworthy that the deadline for submitting online applications for undergraduate courses was extended to June 1, 2024. To increase admissions for the Academic Session 2024-25, the university’s Deputy University Institute (DUI) office and the vice chancellor have been urging departments to promote courses through various means of publicity.

As of May 31, 16,249 students had registered for PU-CET PG, out of which 9,998 (61.5%) had deposited the fees, and 9,856 (60.6%) had completed the entire form.

According to official data procured from the university, among the 43 courses, LLM emerged as the most preferred, with 1,759 registrations, followed by MCA with 1,553 registrations and MA in English with 1,194 registrations. Conversely, the courses with the least number of registrations were MSc in Instrumentation (2 years) with 19 registrations, followed by MTech Instrumentation with 24 registrations. In the MSc Honours courses, MSc Chemistry (2 years) topped the preference chart with 956 registrations, followed by Zoology with 744 registrations. Presently, the candidates have until Monday, June 3, to deposit the fee exclusively through online mode.

The last date for uploading photographs, signatures, and the remaining information on the website is Tuesday, June 4, 2024. The deadline for submitting the printed form along with the required documents to claim the concession of Entrance Test Fee for SC/ST/PwD/PU Employees to the Assistant Registrar, CET Cell, Aruna Ranjit Chandra Hall, Panjab University, Chandigarh-160014, by registered post, speed post, or by hand, is Monday, June 10, 2024. The Entrance Test will be held on Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16 at Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Hoshiarpur, and Muktsar.
